The Monarch Butterfly
Monarch butterflies are best known for their beautiful reddish orange and black vein like markings. In addition to being beautiful, Monarch butterflies have one of the world's most fascinating migration paths. Every fall, thousands of Monarch butterflies fly west from Minnesota and other northern wintering grounds in route to California and Mexico. Upon arrival, Monarchs can be found covering the trees in front of tourists in Pacific Grove, CA. "Butterfly Town" as Pacific Grove has come to be known hosts thousands of Monarchs every year.
